New Zealanders rejected adult-use cannabis legalization recently. There are only a few countries with legal adult-use cannabis but I think when the US finally legalizes, it will change international treaties and beckon an international cannabis gold rush. It will be interesting to see if that causes Europe to view cannabis like it does CBD which isnât exactly good for small businesses.
In the US, adult-use cannabis is being voted on in Arizona, New Jersey and Montana and medicinal cannabis is being decided upon by voters in South Dakota and Mississippi. If the Dems happen to win the Senate and the presidency then we will see if Biden decriminalizes cannabis and changes it to Schedule II as promised. Bills pushing for interstate cannabis transport and legalized banking would also have a better chance of passing. If Trump wins or republicans retain the Senate, I would expect cannabis legalization to still proceed but as it has been, mostly by state initiatives. Elections are so exciting!
